Purchase the E-Book: How to Lead Awesome Team-Building Programs

Did you ever wonder “How does one lead AWESOME team-building programs? Programs that ensure that content and learning take place. A teambuilding program that is fun, and teams leave better than when they arrived?” Now you can find out; In this 55 page E-book you will find applicable strategies, team-building activities, facilitation, de-briefing, and processing activities + theory that you can use immediately.

Reading through my blogs I came across this great experiential leadership thought exercise by Martin Proulx of the blog Analytical Mind

This image accomplishes 2 great things about manager and leadership learning.

  1. Has content that is appropriate to the audience and can be easily transferred into their work and personal lives
  2. Connects neural pathways that already exist in one context i.e. cereals; and introduces a second context i.e. leadership; then re-introduces both concepts in a new and interesting way. Allowing your brain to take existing paths and create a new path based on existing knowledge.

Experiential Greatness!

If I was to use this visual as a learning simulation here is what I would do.

  • Show the image
  • Talk about a continuum of leadership
  • Ask people to move to where they feel most comfortable in their leadership. On the Far Left side are the Results Orientated Leaders ——– Far Right side are the Fun Orientated Leaders. If you are not strong on either end choose along the continuum where your leadership style fits.
  • Take a moment and look at yourself in relation to the other leaders in the room
  • Choose a partner who is closest to you – and take 2 minutes to discuss why you chose to stand where you did.
  • Ask if anyone wants to share what they spoke about.

OR perhaps it could be used to process an initiative based on leadership learning. For example after completing Corona of Convergence – show the image and ask people to stand according to where they felt the person who was the assigned leader – was according to the continuum. This would be a way for the person who was the assigned task leader to get some visual and then verbal feedback on their leadership role.

What other ways could this be used? Please share your thoughts.

Thank you Martin Proulx of the blog Analytical Mind for sharing!
