Objectives –
what you would like to see accomplished?
what is the teams perspective on this?
Who determined these objectives?
Whose objectives are they?
What will be different once these objectives are reached?
Think of an example when the team members (for teambuilding) you (for leadership) have achieved the objectives. What did you notice, how did that feel, what happened?
Value –
what value would come to your organization / leadership/ yourself once the objectives are reached.
Quantitatively – what is the value of success (sales, retention, profit, resource allocation, etc…)?
Qualitatively – what is the value of success (reputation, organizational health, personal health, convenience, self-esteem, pride, etc…)?
What would be the value to the team and to you?
How much value would need to be achieved for success?
How much of this is already happening?
Metrics –
How will we know that the objectives have been accomplished?
who will have to know that the objectives have been accomplished?
is there something already in place we can use to evaluate success?
if we create something new for evaluation who should me involved?
What is the range of improvement you would need to see?
What is minimally acceptable?
Who –
who will be involved, who should be involved, what impact will this have on their time?
How will they be informed of their involvement in this process?
Are they the right people to be involved in the program? Why? How do you know?
Describe the team members skills (for teambuilding) your skills (for leadership).
What skills do the team / you need for success?
Budget –
When do you want to begin the process?
How long do you feel it will take to achieve the objectives?
Who is setting the time frames?
Do you have a financial budget for this?
Can you supply me with a range?
Conclusion prior to proposal –
I will have a proposal to you within 48 hours. I’ll plan a follow up by phone / at your office / skype / 2 days later.
Or do you prefer that I follow up the same day as the proposal is sent?
Special Note –
It is important when asking these questions that I speak to the person(s) who has the ability to green light the process. Also that the person I am speaking to is one of the people who will be supplied with the metrics and evaluations of program success and developments.
Questions –
What am I missing?
Is there anything that I should add to these questions?
How does this differ from your process for gathering information to prepare a proposal for Team Building & Leadership Processes?
